Hut hopping on the Rax
The tour takes you from the Rax cable car in less than 10 minutes at 1,547 m above sea level to the mountain guesthouse via the Praterstern and on to the Ottohaus, the sea route to the Seehütte. From there it goes over the Trinksteinsattel to the Habsburghaus.
Continue over the Schneekogel to the Karl-LudwigHaus, the Schlangenweg to the Waxriegelhaus, down to the Preiner Gscheid.
Hiking passes are available at all huts, the hiking pin and map at the Tourist Information Office Reichenau (opposite the theatre).
The Rax cable car is open daily from 8:00 - 17:30,

Höllentalbahn
The Höllentalbahn is a narrow-gauge, electrically operated local railway in southern Lower Austria at the foot of the Rax.
The approximately 5 km long line connects the southern railway station
Payerbach-Reichenau with the village Hirschwang.
Originally known as "Lokalbahn Payerbach - Hirschwang" (L.B.P.-H.), the railway is now a museum railway and is open to visitors every Sunday from mid-June to mid-October.

Scooter and mountain-cart track of the Mönichkirchen adventure hut
On the scooter and mountain cart track Mönichkirchen families ride on pedal scooters and mountain carts to the valley station. You can either walk up the "Mönichkirchner Schwaig" or take the chairlift of the Mönichkirchen Mariensee lift system. Children and parents can enjoy the rapid descent to the valley station on a pedal-scooter or mountain cart.
More than 2,5km long is the downhill of the roller coaster Mönichkirchen. On the scooter run, the natural toboggan run covers a total of 200 meters of altitude difference with the scooter. Fun for children and the whole family.
